Pharmacological effects:

Amitriptylin belongs to a group of medicines called tricyclic antidepressants. The action mechanism of the medication is associated with increasing the amount of norepinephrin and serotonin in the central nervous system. Amitriptylin increases the amount of these neurotransmitters via inhibiting the neuronal reuptake by the synaptic membrane. In prolonged use Amitriptylin decreases the functional activity of the β-adrenergic and serotonin receptors in the brain, normalizes the work of the nerve cells, restores the balance of the neurotransmitters that is disturbed in depressive conditions. 

Indications: Amitriptylin  is indicated to relive the symptoms of depression

Warnings and Precautions: The drug should not be used in the following conditions:

• Bipolar disorders
• Glaucoma
• Suicidal thoughts
• Recent heart attacks
• Thyroid problems
• Seizures
• Difficult urination
