Active substance: sertraline hydrochloride

Pharmacological effects:

Zoloft is an antidepressant that belongs to a part of medications called serotonin reuptake inhibitor. Zoloft does not act on reuptake of norepinephrin and dopamine. In the therapeutic doses Zoloft blocks the uptake of serotonin in the thrombocytes. Zoloft does not exert stimulating, sedative and anticholinergic effects. Sertraline does not possess the affinity to serotonin, dopamine, histamine, GABA, muscarinic cholinoreceptors.

Indications: Zoloft is approved to treat:

• Depression of a different origin(treatment and prophylaxis)
• Social phobia
• Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
• Premenstrual dysphoric disorder
• Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
• Panic disorders

Warnings and Precautions: Zoloft should not be used in the following conditions:

• Hypersensitivity to any components of the preparations. .
• Children under 6 years of age
• Acute or chronic cerebrovascular diseases
• Epilepsy
• Diabetes melitus
• Recent heart attacks
• Liver or kidney diseases
• Excessive weight loss
• Bipolar disorders
• Acute heart attack
• Diabetes melitus
• Severe liver diseases(chirrhosis)
• Seizures and epilepsy
• Pregnancy and lactation period

Zoloft side effects: Drugs may cause side effects which in specific patients may manifest differently.
