Drug name: Generic Celexa

Active substance: citalopram

Pharmacological effects:

Generic Celexa contains the active ingredient citalopram that belongs a group of anti-depression medicines called serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Depression is usually associated with deficiency of neurotransmitter called serotonin. By inhibiting the reuptake, Celexa increases the amount of serotonin in the synaptic gap and helps to eliminate depression symptoms.

Indications: Celexa is approved for the treatment of the following conditions:

• Treatment and prophylaxis of depression of a different origin
• Panic disorders
• Obsessive-compulsive disorder(impulsive obsession)

Warnings and Precautions: The drugs should not be used in the following conditions:

• Hypersensitivity to any components of the preparations.
• Severe liver and kidney diseases
• Patients over 65 years of age
• Mania and hypomania
• Diabetes
• Seizures and epilepsy
• Severe liver and kidney diseases
• Bipolar disorders
• History of suicide attempts and thoughts
• Recent heart attacks
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding
