Drug name: Generic Effexor

Active substance: venlafaxine hydrochloride

Pharmacological effects:

Effexor contains the active ingredient venlafaxine hydrochloride that belongs to a group of medicines called serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors. Venlafaxine helps to keep the levels of neurotransmitters in balance via inhibiting their reuptake by the presynaptic membrane. Effexor enhances the serotoninergic action on the central nervous system and helps to eliminate depression symptoms.

Indications: Effexor is approved to treat depression.

Warnings and Precautions: Effexor should not be used in the following conditions:

• Hypersensitivity to any components of the preparations.
• Bipolar disorders
• Epilepsy
• Adrenal tumors
• Cardiovascular diseases including heart failure and hypertension
• Severe liver and kidneys problems
• Glaucoma
• Gall bladder diseases
• Pregnancy
