Drug name: Brand Lamisil

Active substance: Terbinafine hydrochloride

Pharmacological effects: Terbinafine belongs to a group of drugs called antimycotics. In low concentrations the drug exerts fungicidal activity against different strains of dermathophyte. Terbinafines also is used in treatment of yeast the drug exerts fungistatic and fungicidal activity. The drug works by inhibiting a certain substance in the fungal cell thus suppressing the synthesis of ergosterol, leading to intracellular accumulation of squalene and fungal cell death not to metnion changes in the permeability of the cell. The drug does not affect the metabolism of hormones and other medications.

Indications: Brand Lamisil is indicated for the treatment of the following conditions:

• Fungal infections of the skin and feet that are caused by susceptible microorganisms
• Trichophytia
• Microsporia
• Epidermophyton
• Rubrofitia
• Skin and mucous membrane candidosis
• Tinea Versicolor

Warnings and Precautions: The drugs should not be used in the following conditions:

• Hypersensitivity to any components of the preparations.
• Lactation period
• Young age under 2 years

The drug should be used with caution in:

• Liver and renal insufficiency
• Alcoholism
• Compromised haemopoietic function
• Metabolism dysfunctions
• Tumors
• Occlusive vessel disease

Irregular or early termination of Brand Lamisil use may lead to the recurrence of the disease.
