Drug name: Generic Lamisil

Active substance: Terbinafine hydrochloride

Pharmacological effects: Terbinafine is an anti-fungal drug. In low concentrations it is fungicidal against different strains of dermathophyte fungi. The drug is also used in treatment of yeast having fungistatic and fungicidal activity against different strains. Terbinafine works by inhibiting a certain substance in the fungal cell thus suppressing the synthesis of ergosterol,which in turn leads to accumulation of squalene and changes in the cellular wall resulting in death of the fungal cell. The drug does not exert any hormonal activity.

Indications: Terbinafine is used in treatment of the such conditions as:

• Fungal infections that are caused by susceptible microorganisms
• Epidermophyton
• Trichophytia
• Rubrofitia
• Skin and mucous membrane candidosis
• Microsporia
• Pityriasis versicolor

Warnings and Precautions: Terbinafine should not be used in the following conditions:

• Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation.
• Lactation period
• Young age under 2 years

The drug should be used with caution in:

• Liver and renal dyfcuntion
• Occlusive vessel disease
• Alcoholic addiction
• Haemopoietic dysfunction
• Metabolism problems
• Tumors

Irregular or early termination of Generic Lamisil use may lead to the recurrence of the disease.
