Active substance: Acyclovir

Pharmacological effects: Zovirax belongs to antiviral medicines. Antiviral effect of Zovirax is associated with inhibiting DNA(genetic material) replication in the viral cell. By interfering with DNA replication, Zovirax helps body fight viral infection caused by shingles, genital herpes, chickenpox.

Indications: Zovirax is approved for treatment the following viral infection: Infection caused by Chickenpox also known as varicella zoster infection

• Herpes Zoster
• Herpes virus type 1 and 2
• Genital herpes
• Prophylaxis of viral infections in patients with weakened immune system

Warnings and Precautions: The drug should not be used in the following conditions:

• Hypersensitivity to any components of the preparation.
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Zovirax should be used with caution in patients with decreased kidney function and elderly patients.

While the treatment you should consume enough plenty of fluids. Avoid sexual intercourse while Zovirax is taken.

Do not take Zovirax cream or ointment by mouth
