Active Ingredients: Fluticasone Propionate

Pharmacological effects:

Advair Diskus is a glucocorticosteroid with anti-inflammatory, antiallergic, and antipruritic properties. Its active substance, Fluticasone Propionate, inhibits proliferation of mast cells, eosinophils, lymphocytes, macrophages and neutrophils, reduces production and release of inflammatory mediators and other biologically active substances (histamine, eicosanoids, leukotrienes and cytokines).

In therapeutic doses, the drug has almost no effect on the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system.

Indications:

Anti-inflammatory therapy of

  • bronchial asthma
  • chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (including chronic bronchitis and emphysema)

Warnings and Precautions: The drugs should not be used in the following conditions:

  • hypersensitivity to any components of the preparations.
  • pregnancy, breastfeeding
  • children aged below 4

Use with caution in:

  • pulmonary tuberculosis

Side effects: Drugs may cause side-effects which in specific patients may manifest differently.   • candidiasis of oral cavity and throat
  • hoarseness
  • paradoxical bronchospasm
  • prolonged use at high doses, concomitant or previous use of oral corticosteroids in rare cases may cause adrenal dysfunction, osteoporosis, growth retardation in children, cataracts, glaucoma
