Active Ingredients: budesonide

Pharmacological effects:

Generic Pulmicort is an antiasthmatic drug; a glucocorticosteroid (GCS) for inhalation use. Its active substance, budesonide, has anti-inflammatory, antiallergic and antiexudative properties. Budesonide has no mineralocorticosteroid activity.

Anti-inflammatory effect of Generic Pulmicort is mediated by reduction of airway obstruction during early and late allergic response. Pulmicort has an inhibitory effect on the release of allergic inflammation mediators and cytokine-mediated immune response. The drug reduces the severity of edema of the bronchial mucosa, mucus production, development of sputum and airway hyperresponsiveness. Indications:

  • bronchial asthma requiring glucocorticosteroids maintenance therapy
  • chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Warnings and Precautions: The drugs should not be used in the following conditions:

  • hypersensitivity to any components of the preparations.

Pulmicort should be used with caution in case of:

  • pregnancy, breastfeeding
  • active or inactive form of pulmonary tuberculosis
  • fungal, viral or bacterial infections of the respiratory system
  • liver cirrhosis

Side effects: Drugs may cause side-effects which in specific patients may manifest differently.   • nervousness, irritability, depression, behavioral disorders
  • symptoms caused by the systemic action of glucocorticosteroids
