Pharmacological effects:

Generic Spiriva is a m-cholinolytic and bronchodilatory drug. Spiriva has the same affinity to different subtypes of muscarinic receptors from M1 to M5.

The result of inhibition of M3 receptors in the airways is relaxation of smooth muscles of bronchial tubes. High affinity to M3 receptors and slow dissociation from them determine pronounced and long-lasting bronchodilatory effect of inhalation form of the drug in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Indications:

• Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema

Warnings and Precautions: The drugs should not be used in the following conditions:

• hypersensitivity to any components of the preparations.
• I trimester of pregnancy
• patients aged below 18

Use Generic Spiriva with caution in case of:

• breastfeeding
• II and III trimesters of pregnancy

Side effects: Drugs may cause side-effects which in specific patients may manifest differently. The possibility of the adverse effect manifestation depends only on the individual and his specific traits. Generic Spiriva side effects include:

• Dry mouth, constipation
• Cough, local irritation, bronchospasm
• Tachycardia
• Difficulty urinating or urinary retention (in men with predisposing factors)
• Hypersensitivity reactions including isolated cases of angioedema
• Blurred vision, acute glaucoma
