Drug name: Brand Omacor

Active substance: omega-3-acid ethyl esters, tocopherol

Pharmacological effects: Omacor is lipid-lowering medication that contains omega-3-acid ethyl esters. Omacor lowers the amount of triglycerides and low density lipoproteins(LDL) called "bad cholesterol".
Omacor extensively works on hemostasis, lowers the production of thromboxane A2 and increases blood clotting time.
Alpha-tocopherol(vitamin E) is a powerful antioxidant that prevents the action of free radicals.

Indications: Omacor is approved to treat high triglyceride levels in the blood (hypertriglyceridaemia) and mixed hyperlipidemia. Omacor can also be indicated as a prophylactic remedy in cardiovascular diseases(atherosclerosis).
