Active substance: Dienogest and Ethinlylestradiol

Pharmacological effects:

Jeanine is a low-dosed monophasic oral contraceptive containing a mixture of estrogens (ethinlylestradiol) and gestagens (dienogest). Contraceptive effect of Jeanine is associated with several complementary mechanisms such as ovulation suppression, increasing the viscosity of cervical mucus, endometrium modification. Dienogest possesses anti-androgenic activity, improves blood lipids profile.

Indications:

• Prevention of undesirable pregnancy (hormonal contraception)
• Hormonal contraception in patients with acne, seborrhea, hirsutism, androgenic alopecia

Warnings and Precautions: The drugs should not be used in the following conditions:

• Hypersensitivity to any components of the preparations.
• Venous or arterial thrombosis
• Conditions predisposing to thrombosis
• Diabetes melitus
• Migraine with neurological symptoms
• Risk factors for venous or arterial thrombosis such cerebrovascular disorders
• Renal or hepatic failure
• Prolonged immobilization
• Malignant or benign tumors
• Pancreatitis
• Hormone-dependent malignant neoplasia
• Vaginal bleedings of unknown origin
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Jeanine should be used with caution in:

• Risk factors of thrombosis or thromboembolia (blood clot)
• Diseases characterized by disorders of peripheral circulation
• Liver diseases
• Postnatal period

Side effects: Drugs may cause side effects which in specific patients may manifest differently. • Digestive system: nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhea
• Urogenital and endocrine system: tenderness of mammary gland, hypertrophism of mammary gland, vaginal discharges, discharges from the mammary glands
• CNS: headache, decreased mood, mood changes, decreased libido, migraine, increased libido
• Vision organs: intolerance of contact lenses
• Dermatological reactions: skin rash, hives, erythema nodosum, erythema multiforme
• Other: water retention, allergic reactions
