Pharmacological effects: Propranolol belongs to a group of drugs called Beta-blockers it affects beta-1 and beta-2 adrenoreceptors. The medicine has hypotensive, antianginal, and antiarrhythmic effects. Propranolol reduces sinus automatism, decreases heart rate and myocardial contractility, slows atrioventricular conduction, lowers myocardium need for oxygen. Decreases cardiac myocyte irritation, diminishes excitability of the ectopic focus , exerts membrane-stabilizing action.

Indications: Propranolol is used for the following conditions:

• Hypertension;
• Exertional angina and instable angina;
• Sinus tachycardia (among them caused by hyperthyroidism);
• Supraventricular tachycardia and abnormal heart rhythms;
• Supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmia;
• Essential tremor;
• Anxiety;
• Brow ache prevention
• Thyroid storm;

Warnings and Precautions: The drugs should not be used in the following conditions:

• Hypersensitivity to any components of the preparations.;
• Atrioventricular conduction blockage of II and III degree;
• Sinoatrial block;
• Bradycardia (cardiac rate less than 55 heart beats per minute);
• Cardiac pacer asthenia;
• Arterial hypotonia;
