Active substance: captopril

Pharmacological effects: Captopril belongs to a group of hypertension medicines called ACE inhibitors. By inhibiting the activity of angiotensin converting enzyme Captopril lowers the production of Angiotensin II. Angiotensin II causes narrowing of the blood vessels resulting in increased blood pressure. By inhibiting this enzyme Captopril lowers high blood pressure. The medication also possesses a moderate diuretic action due to the interfering with the production aldosterone. This makes possible to decrease blood volume and ease pressure on the blood vessels.

Indications: Captopril is indicated for the treatment of the following cardiovascular conditions:

• High blood pressure(hypertension control)
• Congestive heart failure treatment
• Diabetic nephropathy treating

Warnings and Precautions: The drug should not be used in the following conditions:

• Hypersensitivity to any components of the preparation
• Pregnancy
• Breastfeeding
• Angioedema related to previous ACE inhibitors therapy
• Idiopathic angioedema.
