Therapeutic actions: Finalgel(piroxicam) belongs to the group of medications called non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or NSAID's for short. Finalgel exerts local anti-inflammatory and analgesic action. Therapeutic effect is associated with inhibiting the production of prostoglandins that are essential mediators in inflammatory process. Piroxicam inhibits the activity of the enzyme called COX that is responsible for production of prostoglandins. Finalgel relieves inflammation, edema, muscular and joint pain without causing dryness of the skin.
Indications: Finalgel is indicated in the following conditions:
- Ankylosing spondylitis;
- Osteoarthrosis
- Chronic infectious arthritis;
- Juvenile chronic arthritis
- Tendinitis
- Tendovaginitis
- Shoulder-hand syndrome
- Duplay's disease
- athletic injuries(concussion, luxation, strain)
- Pain and edema in joints, muscles and tendons
Contraindications and cautions:
Finalgel should not be applied in the following conditions:
- Known hypersensitivity or allergy to piroxicam
- Children under 14 years of age
- Pregnancy
- Breastfeeding
If you do not experience any improvements while 2 weeks you should stop applying this medication.
Finalgel should be used with caution in patients with:
- Bronchial asthma
- Allergic rhinitis
- Obstructive diseases of the airways
- Avoid contact of Finalgel with open wounds.
