10/27/11

The treatment of acute streptococcal infection should be carried within 10 days. It is more reasonable to inject penicillins in the dose 1200000 IU daily for adults within 5-7 days. In this case it is recommended to use Bicillin-3 or Bicillin-1 in the dose 600000 IU once daily for 5-7 days.

Bicillin online

Bicillin-3 possesses antibacterial spectrum similar to Bicillin-1. Unlike Bicillin-1, it contains a mixture of benzathine benzylpenicillin, benzylpenicillin sodium salts and benzylpenicillin procaine salt. All the 3 salts of Bicillin-3 possessing different soluble properties, provide high concentration of the medication in the blood within the first 3-6 hours after application and its fast elimination from the organism.

The medication is used only as intramuscular injection. It is not intended for intravenous use. Suspension of Bicillin-3 is made immediately before the application. Nearly 2-3ml of sterile water for injections of isotonic solution of sodium chloride are added to the flask with dry suspension. The mixture in flask is shaken for 30 seconds (in the direction of long axis) until the formation of homogenous suspension which should be injected deeply in the upper quarter of the right buttock. It is not recommended to rub the buttock after an injection.

The use of sulfonamides, tetracycline for the treatment of acute infections is not recommended because of higher resistance of microorganisms to this group of drugs.

If case when antibiotics cannot be used in the form of intramuscular injections, oral form of phenoxymethylpenicillin 1000000-1500000 IU or erythromycin - 1000000-1500000 IU daily can be used.

Individuals with chronic lesions of streptococcal infection, tonsillitis, sinusitis, pharyngitis, cholecystitis, cholangitis and other inflammatory should have an appropriate treatment under the supervision of the doctor.

Particular attention should be paid to persons having the risk of rheumatic fever, includuing persons who have constant or intermittent low-grade fever, arthralgia, fatigue, functional changes in the cardiovascular system. These patients, along with active streptococcal infection need to use Bicillin products on a regular basis within 2-3 years.
