Pharmacological effects:

Allopurinol is an hypouricemic and anti gout drug. It inhibits xanthine oxidase, inteferes with oxypurine transformation into xanthine and then xanthine into the uric acid. Allopurinol helps to reduce the production of urates in the blood serum their deposition in the tissues.

 

Indications: The medication is used to treat:

Hyperuricemia: primary and secondary gout, urolithiasis with the calculus of urates formation, diseases manifested in disintegration of nucleoproteins, cytostatic and radiation treatment of tumors, psoriasis, traumatic toxicosis.

Warnings and Precautions: The drug should not be used in the following conditions:

• Hypersensitivity to any components of the preparations.
• Suppressed kidney insufficiency
• Pregnancy
• Breastfeeding

Allopurinol side effects: Drugs may cause side effects which in specific patients may manifest differently.
