Drug name: Generic Aspirin

Active substance: acetylsalicylic acid

Pharmacological effects:

Generic Aspirin belongs to a group of medicines called NSAID's. Aspirin exerts analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory action.  Action mechanism of the medication is associated with unconvertible inhibiting of the enzyme called cyclooxygenase. This enzyme regulates the synthesis of inflammatory mediators called prostoglandins E2 and I2. Aspirin also exerts antiplatelet action via inhibiting the enzyme thromboxane A2.

Indications: Aspirin is indicated in the following conditions:

• Rheumatism, rheumatoid arthritis, infectious and allergic myocarditis, fever caused by infectious-inflammatory diseases
• Pain syndrome of light and moderate intensity of a different genesis(neuralgia, myalgia, headache)
• Prophylaxis of myocardium infarction
• Prophylaxis of cerebrovascular circulation disorders

Warnings and Precautions: The drug should not be used in the following conditions:

• Hypersensitivity to any components of the preparations.
• Stomach and duodenal ulcers
• Gastrointestinal bleedings
• Hemorrhagic diathesis
• Bronchial asthma that is induced by the application of NSAID's
• Samter's triad(Aspirin triad)
• Pregnancy
• Breastfeeding
• Children and adolescents under 18 years of age

Apririn should be used with caution in gout, hyperuricemia, liver and kidney diseases, bronchial asthma, diseases of the respiratiry system, hey fever, polyposis of the nasal mucous lining, allergic reactions, deficiency of vitamin K and G6PD

Aspirin side effects: Drugs may cause side-effects which in specific patients may manifest differently. In the following paragraph we want to underline the most serious and frequent side effect of Aspirin that  were identified by the drug manufacturers. The possibility of the adverse effect manifestation depends only on the individual and his specific traits. Aspirin side effects include:

• Gastrointestinal tract: nausea, vomiting, anorexia, pain in the abdominal pain, diarrhea, gastrointestinal bleedings, liver problems
• CNS: dizziness, headache, vision problems, tinnitus, aseptic meningitis
• Hematopoietic system: thrombocytopenia, anemia
• Blood coagulation system: hemorrhagic syndrome
• Urogenital system: kidney function. In prolonged use kidney failure and nephrotic syndrome is possible
• Allergic reactions: skin rash, Quinke's edema, Samter's triad(Aspirin triad)
• Other: Reye's syndrome, aggravation of chronic heart failure
