Drug name: Generic Celebrex

Active substance: celecoxib

Pharmacological effects:

Generic Celebrex contains the active ingredient celecoxib that belongs to a group of medicines called non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Celebrex exerts anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic action. Action mechanism of the medication is associated with inhibiting the enzyme called cyclooxygenase-2. This enzyme is responsible for the production of inflammatory mediators called prostaglandines. By reducing the amount of prostaglandines in the affected area, Celebrex helps to relieve pain and decrease edema.

Indications: Celebrex is indicated in the following conditions:

• Pain syndrome of a different genesis
• Essential dysmenorrhea
• Treatment of arthritis symptoms, including pain, stiffness and swelling.
• Treatment of different arthritis types such as ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis and  rheumatoid arthritis. 

Warnings and Precautions: The drugs should not be used in the following conditions:

• Hypersensitivity to any components of the preparations.
• Bronchial asthma that is induced by NSAID's taking
• Coronary artery bypass grafting
• Stomach and duodenal ulcers
• Gastrointestinal bleedings
• Inflammatory diseases of the bowel
• Diseases of the peripheral vessels
• Hart failure
• Severe cerebrovascular diseases
• Kidney failure
• Children and adolescents under 18 years of age
• Pregnancy
• Breastfeeding

Celebrex side effects: Drugs may cause side-effects which in specific patients may manifest differently. The possibility of the adverse effect manifestation depends only on the individual and his specific traits.

• The most common Celebrex side effects include: high blood pressure, fever, heartburn, common cold, abdominal pain, nausea, cough, gas, sore throat, vomiting, runny or irritated nose, dizziness
• The less common and serious Celebrex side effects include: cardiovascular problems, stomach problems, liver damage, water retention, swelling of the legs and arms, rapid weight gain, congestive heart failure, liver damage.
